History, wildlife, relaxtion, boating, walking – Oulton Broad can offer it all. The southern gateway to the newest National Park in the country, Oulton Broad offers the visitor a unique experience.
Right in the centre of Oulton Broad you will find Nicholas Everitt with a range of amenities, from tennis courts, boating, children’s play areas, pretty gardens and the home of The Lowestoft Museum. The museum contains 1000 years of local and domestic history, fine examples of Lowestoft Porcelain, plus prehistoric and medieval artefacts found locally.
Oulton Broad has been well known for over 100 years as thee home of the Lowestoft & Oulton Broad Motor Boat Club, the only venue in the world to hold weekly race meetings during the summer months. From Oulton Broad’s shores you can watch some of the world’s best racing on Thursday evenings.
Other water-based sports include sailing, fishing, windsurfing and rowing.
Nature lovers will enjoy the 100 acres of grazing marsh, fen and peat pools at Carlton Marshes Nature Reserve which is situated to the west side of Oulton Broad. There is a purpose built visitor centre where you can find out more information.
